Sailing in the Abacos in the early spring is exceptional. The weather is good, the sun is shining, and there’s always a great breeze. The Abaco sea is bounded to the west by Great Abaco Is and Little Abaco Is, and to the east is an almost continuous line of cays and reefs that provide shelter from the big waves coming in.
You can sail in the Abaco Sea between the Abaco and the reef and have flat water and a really good breeze. If you want something a bit more adventurous, you can pass through one of the passages in the reef and you’re out in the Atlantic.
There is so much to see in the Abacos, not the least of which are the amazing beaches. Snorkeling on the reefs is just the best. Crystal clear water and the spectacular colors of the reef and the fish. On Elbow Cay is one of the last operational kerosene-fueled lighthouses in the world. This lighthouse was built in 1862 and has been in continuous operation since then.
